In accordance with the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019 and the Public Health and Wellbeing (Prescribed Accommodation) Regulations 2020, if you are opening, buying or selling an accommodation business, including a bed and breakfast, motel or boarding house, you need to register with Council and may be required to obtain a permit. IMPORTANT – In order for your application to be processed, it must be accompanied with:
1) The registration fee (as applicable); 2) A plan of the accommodation premises drawn to a scale of not less than 1:100 which shows the proposed use of each room.
Once registered, your premises will be inspected at least once a year to ensure you comply with the requirements under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.

Permits

Permits may also be required from Council's Planning and Building Departments, depending on the type of business and the changes you may be making. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all appropriate permits have been sought.
