To address road safety risks and allow for future development in Yarrawonga, Council is constructing a roundabout at the intersection of South Road, Gilmore Street, Woods Road, Cahills Road and Old Wilby Road, Yarrawonga.

This intersection has been assessed as presenting the highest risk of all urban intersections within the shire. It was also the site of a high-profile fatal crash in 2015. Council has been working for a number of years to develop improvements at the intersection. The project is funded as part of the 2024/25 capital works program.

Council is currently working with Powercor to relocate existing power poles within the intersection. Civil design is also being finalised prior to tendering later this year.

The overall project will deliver:

  • Construction of new roundabout at existing complex intersection
  • Construct new kerb and channel
  • New footpaths for greater pedestrian accessibility
  • Redesigned street scape included new trees

These works are estimated at $1,480,000.
