To address road safety, freight, and traffic concerns at the intersection of Naring Road/Numurkah Road/Tocumwal Road, Numurkah Council is undertaking the design of a series of intersection improvements.

These improvements were identified through a Road Safety Audit and Options Assessment Report undertaken by an independent expert in March 2023.

The overall project will deliver:

  • Construction of Turn lanes, traffic islands, road widening, including provision for BDouble access
  • Pavement upgrades, including shoulder sealing and road widening of Naring Road West to the Goulburn
  • Drainage improvements
  • Level Crossing Upgrade
  • Public Lighting
  • Establish alternative freight route along Naring Road West to avoid truck traffic entering Numurkah township
  • Provision for future traffic signals as part of future development

Current Works: The project is currently under design, with plans for completion in August this year.

To cater for future changes at the intersection as development in Numurkah extends the Township north to Naring Road, the design has been undertaken with the possibility of installation of traffic signals in the future, mostly likely beyond 15 years from now. These improvements will be a requirement of future developers in the area.
