Community Asset Committees
The Local Government Act 2020 (The Act) came into effect on 1 May 2020 and it provides a new structure for formal Committees of Council.
Under the Act, Section 86 Committees (from the Local Government Act 1989) cease to exist. A Community Asset Committee (CAC) can be established under s65 of the Act.
A Council may only establish a Community Asset Committee for the purpose of managing a community asset in the municipal district.
