Moira Shire Council is inviting the community to share their ideas and help shape the future of the Numurkah, Katunga and Strathmerton Growth Corridor.

The Growth Corridor Plan will guide the region’s long-term development, focusing on economic, housing, and social opportunities. With the region home to nearly 6,700 residents and contributing more than $1.1 billion annually to the local economy, this plan is essential for supporting future growth and prosperity.

Spanning key agricultural and industrial areas, the Growth Corridor plays a major role in Victoria’s food production sector and is undergoing significant transformation through new investments. However, challenges such as a lack of housing limit the region’s ability to attract new workers and families, impacting its potential for growth.

Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said the plan would identify solutions to attract young families, promote key industries, and improve local amenities.

“The Corridor Plan will tackle issues such as housing shortages, planning reforms and economic development strategies, ensuring the region can grow local jobs and draw in new residents,” he said.

“We welcome the community to view the discussion paper, explore the proposed strategic moves and share your ideas on how to attract more people to the area, enhance local infrastructure and promote the region as a major food producing hub.”

Consultation is open until Monday 11 November. Community feedback will help shape a future that reflects the needs and aspirations of the region.
