The much-awaited Yarrawonga Multisport Stadium has taken a giant step forward.
Moira Shire Council has appointed experienced construction firm Moretto Building to design and deliver the $12.47m community project.
The Yarrawonga Multisport Stadium will provide a new state-of-the-art facility in Yarrawonga for year-round sports and activities, catering to all ages, abilities, and interests.
The stadium will enhance existing and future sports opportunities while creating a modern, inclusive, and safe precinct for residents and visitors alike. The stadium will fill a gap in sporting facilities in Yarrawonga that has been identified for many years.
Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said a highly competitive and rigorous multistage procurement process ensured Council attracted a strong field of interest from 11 construction firms. The entire procurement process was overseen by an independent probity consultant.
“This is a much-anticipated project for the Yarrawonga community. It will provide modern, inclusive facilities that will benefit locals for generations to come. This will not only support our local sporting clubs, but also create more opportunities for regional events and tournaments,” Dr Emonson said.
“Quality sporting infrastructure is key to supporting healthy, active communities and we are excited to see the multisport stadium come to life.”
The stadium construction is expected to commence later this year following the completion of the detailed design stage. Construction is expected to be completed late 2026.
The stadium is jointly funded by Moira Shire Council, the Australian Government’s Community Development Grants Program, the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure fund, a low interest 2020-21 Community Sports Infrastructure Loan and the Yarrawonga-Mulwala Basketball Association.
