This is your last chance to nominate individuals or organisations which have enhanced and provided for their local community for the 2022 Moira Shire Australia Day Awards.

Nominations are closing Friday 19 November so now is the time to nominate Australian citizens who have made a significant voluntary contribution during 2021, or who have given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

Mayor Libro Mustica said it wasn’t just individual people who could be nominated.

“A project or event that a school, community group or organisation has held which went that extra mile to help their local area can also be nominated,” Cr Mustica said.

“The Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to recognise those in the community who have given tirelessly for the benefit of others.

“We are fortunate to have so many community-minded people in Moira Shire and the Australia Day Awards provide us with a fantastic opportunity to recognise their commitment, contribution and effort.”

There are six award categories – Citizen of the Year; Junior Citizen of the Year; Young Citizen of the Year; Community Event of the Year; Community Organisation of the Year; and Arts, Culture and/or Environment Project of the Year.

“I encourage members of the community to take the time to think about the contributions the people and community groups around them have made, particularly during this past difficult 12 months,” Cr Mustica said.

“These awards will be a wonderful way to recognise the exceptional contribution for the people and groups in our community who inspire us all.”

Nominations can be made online via our website; if you require assistance please give us a call on 5871 9222 and one of our officers will help you through the process.
