A career-making opportunity to project manage a $15 million infrastructure package for one of the fastest growing towns in rural Victoria awaits the right candidate.

CEO Clare Keenan said a new Library and a Multisport Stadium were two key infrastructure projects which would stamp the township of Yarrawonga as a destination of choice for relocation to the regions, tourism and business investment.

“This position is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineering project manager who wants to relocate and experience all Moira Shire can offer,” Ms Keenan said.

“Alternatively, it is a great chance for a younger qualified person to cut their teeth on a more substantial project – it will certainly be a feather in their cap that they are helping to shape the future of Yarrawonga.”

The project manager will ensure value for money, on time and on budget delivery.

Ms Keenan said he or she would manage implementation risks as well as providing the required liaison, documentation and everyday management of the project.

“This contract position will be for a two year period; we are recruiting for aptitude as well as the ability to contribute positively to Council’s corporate culture,” she said.

“Moira Shire aims to be the best in Victoria – so the candidate has to be the best of the best.

“Ultimately we are looking for someone with a passion for helping create quality buildings that benefit communities and who will connect with our community.”

The Yarrawonga Library build, estimated at $5 million, will create a vibrant and diverse community hub including a library, Customer Service Centre, meeting spaces and a kitchen to service the Town Hall.

Ms Keenan said this project had been in the planning stages for a number of years and during that time Council had been working closely with user groups of the existing Community Hall and precinct to incorporate, where possible, the services and facilities they wanted into the new designs.

“The Multisport Stadium build, estimated at $10 million, will include two multi-use indoor courts, four unisex accessible change rooms including accessible amenities, as well as multi-purpose rooms,” she said.

“An expansion area for an additional two courts is proposed as the town grows and there is a concept plan showing how an aquatic facility can be added to the stadium in the future – with the possibility of further sporting and recreational facilities to come in the master plan.

“It will provide a fabulous venue for schools, sporting and community groups in Yarrawonga and Mulwala and complement the planned growth of the adjacent P-12 College and the existing outdoor netball courts.”

Ms Keenan said the overall scale of the building would support Yarrawonga hosting major events and conferences in the future.

“The facility will be designed as a modern and contemporary multi-use stadium that is welcoming and flexible in design to accommodate a wide range of uses,” she said.

“The vision for the new stadium will be to create a place for sport and recreation; teaching and learning; community events; and community health and wellbeing.
