Get Active this April: Move Moira Returns
Published on 27 March 2025
A packed calendar of activities, community events, and local sports will transform Moira Shire into a hub of health and wellness this April, as the Council partners with NCN Health and Yarrawonga Health for the return of Move Moira – Active April 2025.
Following the success of last year’s campaign, this year’s program promises to be bigger and better, offering even more opportunities for residents to get active and engaged in their community.
From park runs, dance classes, and yoga by the river to multi-sports holiday programs, this dynamic initiative offers something for everyone across Cobram, Nathalia, Numurkah, and Yarrawonga.
Dr Graeme Emonson PSM, Chair Administrator for Moira Shire Council, reflected on the success of last year’s program and emphasised the initiative's community-wide impact.
“After the fantastic response to Move Moira in 2024, we’re excited to bring it back with even more diverse activities this year,” Dr Emonson said.
“Move Moira is more than just exercise – it’s about bringing our community together, discovering local activities, and making movement fun. With activities ranging from gentle chair fitness to energetic dance classes and from croquet to karate, we’re showcasing the incredible variety of opportunities available right here in our region.”
Yarrawonga Health CEO Robin Haberecht said: “At Yarrawonga Health, we are proud to support the Move Moira community event, reinforcing our commitment to community well-being. Staying active is vital for both physical and mental health, and events like this inspire people of all ages to prioritise movement in their daily lives.”
Shelley Milverton, Acting Operational Director, Community Services at Yarrawonga Health said: “Yarrawonga Health is thrilled to partner with Move Moira again this year, providing quality community collaborations for all ages and promoting activity in a safe, fun, and interactive way.”
NCN Health Manager of Health Promotion and Community Development, Jenny Burrows, said: “The Move Moira - Active April Campaign is all about encouraging movement in whatever way is enjoyable for you, and being active in the community. Everyone is encouraged to find out what is available in our local community and maybe try something new. The school holidays are full of fun, free, local activities across the Shire, so take a look at the calendar and plan how you will be active this April.”
The Move Moira program features:
