“The Queen’s Baton Relay is a long running tradition of the Commonwealth Games.

“The scale of the Gold Cost Queen’s Baton Relay allows communities who have never before witnessed the spectacle of the celebration to participate in a festival of international proportions.

“It is wonderful the Relay is visiting Yarrawonga as it signals that the lead-up to the Games has begun.

“I am immensely proud of the shire’s baton bearers and the role they will take when the Queen’s Baton comes to Yarrawonga.

“Many have dedicated their lives to improving the lives of others, some have accomplished great feats and others are working towards realising their dreams.

“Being a baton bearer recognises all of this, and more.

“I encourage you to support these great people in our community and to share a memorable moment with the Queen’s Baton yourselves.”
