A purr-fect match could be waiting for you this March by welcoming a feline friend into your home.

Moira Shire Council’s Meet Your Purr-fect Match – Love at First Purr campaign is aiming to match cats and kittens with people across Moira Shire.

For the month of March, Council is making adopting a cat affordable and easy. The adoption fee has been lowered to $80, which includes desexing, vaccinations, microchipping and free registration until April 2026.

Moira Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Matthew Morgan said if people were thinking about adopting a pet, now was the perfect time.

“We have cats and kittens waiting for their new homes at the Cobram Pound and we would like to see them find suitable matches with people where they can live their best lives,” he said.

“Whether you’re looking for a relaxed older cat, a social cat ready to join your existing pets, or a playful kitten, you’re sure to find a personality to suit your home.

“Adopting a pet means you’re not only gaining a new family member, but also giving an animal a new lease on life. Pets are also great for companionship, but they can also help to reduce stress and boost mental health and wellbeing.”

There are many cute cats and kittens in all colours and ages waiting for their new home at the Cobram Pound.
