The Live4Life Mental Health Expo is set to unfold at the Cobram Sports Centre on Thursday 7 September 2023.

The Expo celebrates the accomplishments of more than 450 year 8 students across eight secondary schools who have completed their Teen Mental Health First Aid Training, marking a significant step towards building awareness, reducing stigma, and fostering community support for mental health challenges.

Janet Martin, Moira Shire Council Director of Sustainable Communities, emphasised the importance of this initiative.

“The Mental Health Expo demonstrates to the students who completed their Teen Mental Health First Aid Training, that this is not only significant but also something to take pride in. This event provides them with the platform to showcase their learnings and skills," Mrs Martin said.

"The Expo also offers the Live4 Life crew members the opportunity to lead a crucial event and apply the expertise they've gained throughout the year and empower these young ambassadors by letting them take the reins."

This year’s Expo theme, "With an Umbrella, we can face the rain together", builds community resilience to address mental health, highlights awareness of local resources, and eliminates barriers that deter young people from seeking assistance. As well as kickstarting the recruitment process, and bidding farewell to a successful year of Live4Life.

The event, masterminded by the Live4 Life crew, with the backing of Moira Shire Council and the Partnership Group, paves the way for these year 8 students to join the crew in the upcoming year.

The Live4Life Mental Health Expo is a celebration of the achievements for students. Providing them with the chance to interact with their peers, the Live4Life crew, and community organisations.

The Expo will feature stalls and activities hosted by 12 prominent Community Organisations, including Upper Murray Family Care, NCN Health, Yarrawonga Health, Wellways, Headspace, Junction Support Services, The Bridge Youth Services, Dutch Thunder Wildlife Rescue, Salvation Army, Uniting Vic. Tas., New Remedy Therapy, Youth Foundation, Youth Live4Life, and Moira Foodshare.

Attendees can enjoy a range of experiences such as a photo booth, glitter tattoos, meditation, gratitude exercises, mindfulness practices, and a lively smoothie bike.
