Maintenance work will start next week on Mulwala-Yarrawonga Bridge across Lake Mulwala.

Mr Aplin said the NSW Government has allocated $350,000 to repair and seal sections of the bridge deck to provide a smoother, more durable road surface and to improve safety for all road users.

“Due to the narrowness of the bridge, the bridge will be temporarily closed for the safety of workers and road users,” Mr Aplin said.

“Closing the bridge also allows Roads and Maritime Services to complete the work as quickly as possible.

“The bridge will be closed from 6am to 8pm on Saturday 17 March and from 6am to 8pm on Sunday 18 March, weather permitting.

“Motorists will be detoured via the Mulwala-Yarrawonga weir crossing on Weir Road. Motorists should allow an extra five minutes travel time when travelling through this area.

“Pedestrian access will still be maintained during the work.

“For the convenience of road users, the bridge will be reopened between 8pm on Saturday 17 March and 6am Sunday 18 March. The bridge will be reduced to single lane and an escort vehicle will be used to guide traffic safely across the bridge.

“Work will involve the use of machinery which may generate some noise but every effort will be made to minimise noise impacts.

“Motorists should plan ahead, allow extra time for their journey and follow the direction of traffic control.

“Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their patience while this important maintenance work is carried out,” Mr Aplin said.
