Panel of Administrators
On 28 October 2022, a Commission of Inquiry into Moira Shire Council was appointed under section 200 of the Local Government Act 2020.
The Commission of Inquiry provided its report to the Minister for Local Government, Hon Melissa Horne MP, Minister and the report was tabled in Parliament on 7 March 2023. The Minister accepted the Commission’s recommendation to dismiss the Council and appoint a panel of administrators. On 9 March 2023, John Tanner AM was appointed as interim administrator until the appointment of the panel.
On 8 June 2023 a Panel of Administrators was appointed to Moira Shire Council until the first meeting of the council following the general elections in October 2028. The panel comprised John Tanner AM (Chair) whose appointment concluded on 9 June 2024, Suzanna Sheed AM and Dr Graeme Emonson PSM.
As of the 10 June 2024, the panel now comprises two members:
- Dr Graeme Emonson PSM - Chair Administrator
- Suzanna Sheed AM
The terms and conditions of the appointment has been fixed by the Minister for Local Government in accordance with section 7(e) of the Local Government (Moira Shire Council) Act 2023.
Our Panel
What is the panels role?
The Panel of Administrators will perform all the functions, powers and duties of a Councillor as set out in the Local Government Act 2020 (the Act), including representing the interests of the Moira Shire community.
In addition, the Panel Chair must perform all the functions, powers and duties of the Mayor of the Moira Shire Council as set out in the Act.
