What is planning?
Planning is a tool used to control use and development. In Victoria, planning governed by the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
Moira Shire Council, in accordance with the Act:
- Implement the Moira Planning Scheme that sets out how land may be used and developed.
- This means that Moira assess and issue planning permits for the use and development of land, subdivision, liquor licences etc.
- Keeps up to date the policies set out in the Moira Planning Scheme through Planning Scheme Amendments. These amendments are informed by Strategic plans, reports and studies undertaken by and on behalf of Council.
- Enforces the Planning Scheme through our Compliance Department.
